The Internet in an amazing source of informations and today you can learn almost anything from your desk. There are many great tutors with great eBook, Video Courses as well as Books and DVDs and you can use them to teach yourself guitar whenever you wish. You just need some determination and the world is your oyster.

When committing to a program you want to set yourself achievable goals and a practice regime. To practice a little bit each day – or at least 5 or 6 days a weeks – it’s better than a lot every now and then. This is “the principle of under achieving” and it helps if you don’t want to burn out before you reach your goal.

Like in anything else the more time you spend practising the better you get sooner but be realistic about it and give yourself a chance to get into it a bit at the time. I recommend at least 30 minutes x day six days a week of practice. Practice is different than playing. Playing songs or riffs by yourself or with any ensemble over and over does help you learn but it’s when you sit by yourself and work on new exercises that is challenging for you that you improve .

Your practice time is very important! The less time you have set aside for your practice the less time you have to waste, therefore make sure you practise the right exercises that gets results ASAP.

As you can see the recipe to teach yourself guitar is very simple. No matter what kind of music you like to play, jazz, pop, classical or rock the plan of action is the same. Find a good guitar learning program & practice methodically every day.

That is all from me. Although I’m simplifying the process this is in a nut shell the secret when you want to learn to play guitar. Do that and you will see results fast.
