In a recent interview with me, Aldrin – a pre-boomer born in 1930 – allowed that being part of the cast on Dancing With The Stars will draw attention to his former career. This will provide a platform from which Aldrin will be able to divert the spotlight from him and shine it on the need to revitalize the US space program.

According to Mr. Aldrin the US could become the world leader in space exploration again if it became more of a coordinator and less of a competitor. Buzz is hoping to use the media as a platform to garner more votes for his dancing, but more so to garner more fans of his plan to initiate global space cooperation. Like the space station has seen so far, Buzz believes cooperation will lead to more advances, more discoveries and more progress than wasteful competition has done thus far. He believes the race to space supremacy has resulted in wasted money, time and human resources.
